| Really, this will only work once, so save it for a person who has the hiccups really bad. When you meet someone who is hiccupping, offer to give that person one dollar for the next hiccup. My friend just cured my hiccups that way!
Maybe it will continue to work, if she keeps offering more and more money!

| I have been awarded the Chateaubriand
Fellowship. In February of next year, I'm moving to Paris to
work on sub-surface imaging of the Martian crust using MARSIS
radar data. |

| I swear, I used to be able to fly home (well, to Sacramento) from San Diego for under $100 with Southwest.com's 21-day advance purchase. Now it's almost $200! This is robbery people! Southwest should not forget that they are first and foremost a BARGAIN AIRLINE! And that by 'bargain' we mean 'cheap!'

| every year I send flowers to my mom for Mother's day... I have always thought that this is a nice thing to do. The flowers are always pretty, and come with a nice vase, and they leave them right on her doorstep. But an interesting thought struck me this morning as I was perusing my option on the internet: my mom must have at least half-a-dozen of those generic flower vases in a cupboard somewhere!
I'm considering just sending boxed flowers this year, but then if she's not home when they arrive, they'll just sit there without water, possibly all day! That would be no good. So this year I'm considering alternative options for a Mother's Day gift. Any suggestions? It doesn't have to be something delivered, like fruit-of-the-month, I'm thinking I'll actually go to a store and pick her out something nice, and then mail it to her. |
